What's Happening at Zoo Camp?

Happy Tuesday! Zebee here. Our zoo camp is into it's third week now. Let's see what our campers are sending in to share with everyone.

First up is Wyatt and his picture of a lizard. Wyatt is 3 and a half and his mom says he asks for zoo camp every day.

Wyatt also sent in a picture of his bubble wrap lizards. This is what he said:

Hi Zebee,Here is a picture of the bubble wrap lizards I made with my mom. She,put glue where the eyes go and I pasted google eyes on them. Thank you, Wyatt

Here's Anne's foam lizard art. She gave her pink wiggle eyes.
* * * * *

Okay, now for our 8 sentence stories. We have two. The first one is from Jimmy.

Iguana, iguana, I want to play with iguana.
Iguana is green and scaly.
I like to watch and chase iguanas.
Want to have an iguana for a pet.
To feed an iguana I give him lettuce.
Play on the piano and make up a song.
With my dad I made my iguana a cage.
Iguana likes his new home.

Next is a story by Becky.

The chameleon looked both ways before she leaped.
Chameleon landed on a branch.
Looked over at the spider web.
Both the spider and the chameleon blinked.
Ways to eat a spider.
Before the chameleon ate the spider she watched.
She got the spider on the first try.
Leaped off the branch and walked away.
* * * * *

For all you campers who are being shy about sending your art and writings in, don't be shy! Remember, sending things in gets you more points and more chances to win one of the 5 prizes at the end of zoo camp. So, send them in. I know the gang here at the V Zoo would love seeing what you're doing.

See you back here Thursday with another great book review.

Meerkat Mania and Leaping Lizards!

Hi campers (and other loyal readers), Zebee here. Today, as promised, I'm bringing you everyone's comments and art work from Meerkat Mania week over at zoo camp. So let's get started.

Favorite meerkat facts:

My favorite fun fact about Meerkats is what they eat! Spiders and scorpions.
from Wyatt
***
My favorite meerkat fact is that they are called the “Solar panels of the animals world.” I think that’s funny.
from Anne
***
I like the fact that they have built in sunglasses. I wish I did.
from Billy
***
Meerkat poems:

Meerkats! by Sally

Meerkats eat,
Meerkats sleep,
Meerkats like to dig.
***
I once saw a meerkat run down the street
Then I woke up
By Cliff
***
A friend of my boss Joy sent in a poem too. She’s an adult. I think you all will really like it.

No Mere Meerkat by Tanja

Mirka the Meerkat,
As you probably know,
Is the cousin of Timon –
Of the Lion King Show.

She’s agile and she’s cool
She’s nobody’s fool...
She’s seven years old and
She so hates the cold.

She’s the mob’s Alpha girl
Her life’s a big social whirl;
What with foraging, burrowing,
Sunbathing and grooming.

She’s the size of a squirrel,
A sleek two pounds, and lissom -
She closes her ears
When she doesn’t want to listen.

She dines on dainty morsels,
Make no mistake –
A varied menu of lizard...
Insect, bird and snake!
Art work:
Anne and Johnny sent in their meerkat art work.
Aren't they nice?
Okay, so all these children have now earned an extra point towards the prizes at the end of camp. Congratulations!
Remember, it's not too late to send yours in. The more you participate the more chances you have to win one of the 5 prizes being given away at the end of zoo camp.
See you over at zoo camp where this week we're looking at lizards. Chameleons and iguanas are the two kinds we're playing with and learning about.
See you Thursday, right here.

Sneak Peak Tuesday

Z: I know! I heard Rebekha and our boss Joy talking about it yesterday. Well, I’ve got to go, it’s blog time. Bye Elvis.

E: Bye Zebee. I see if I can fly around tonight and see what the rest of the gang’s been hearing.

Okay, hi there everyone. Zebee here. I’ve been visiting with Elvis and we were discussing the zoo camp plans. Boy have Joy and Rebekha along with the rest of the keepers got a great time planned for all of you. If you promise not to tell, I’ll share a secret with you. Promise?

I’ll give you a hint. They are planning an art project that each week you’ll add to it. By the end of the eight weeks, you’ll have a really cool . . .

Star: Don’t you dare Zebee! Don’t you know that Rebekha and the keepers are working really hard on that art project and you’re going to give it all away? Everyone will find out next week on Monday when week one goes live. I think they can wait, don’t you?

Z: I guess you’re right. Sorry.
I guess you will all have to wait. Make sure you sign up over at our zoo camp page. I know, why don’t you do it now while you’re thinking about it.

Okay, I’ll see you Thursday with another great book review. Bye for now.

Zebee’s Summer Zoo Camp

Hello all you people in Bloggerville. Zebee here. Today I have some news to share about, ahem, my summer camp.

Mori: Hey Zebee, it’s our summer camp.

Lito: Yeah! We all are participating in it along with the children, keepers and parents that come.

Zebee: Well, it’s just that our boss Joy named it after me, so I look at it as mine.

Mori and Lito: Okay, but we had input too, so did all the other animals and keepers here at the V Zoo.

Zebee: Sorry. I just happen to be the mascot, okay? So, I have news about the summer camp here at the V Zoo. There’s still time to register, so drop us a comment and let us know you want to come.

We are going to be highlighting a different animal each week. Some common and some not so common ones that live here in the V Zoo. We will have an ‘interesting little known facts trivia’ section, an arts and crafts project, pictures, puzzles and games. Be sure to pack a snack and bring along your imagination.

When is this summer camp going to be held? It’s every Tuesday from July 7th through August 25th. Eight weeks of fun and games.

Do you have a favorite animal you’d like to see us highlight one week? Just drop us a comment and we will work real hard to include it. So far we know that meerkats, bongos, elephants and hippos.

Also, my boss Joy is thinking up some type of prize. More on that later.

So, did I forget anything?

Mori: Did you mention that the children who participate can send in their pictures and we’ll post them here on the blog?

Lito: And what about the board game?

Zebee: Ssshhh! That’ not ready yet for announcement. And, no Mori, I forgot to mention that. So, for all you budding artists, send us your pictures of zoo animals. You can start now if you like and then when the summer camp starts, you can email us pictures of your arts and crafts projects.

Got to go. Oh, be sure to pop into our sister blog’s book blog tour. Wednesday you can find us at:
